Have you improved to 2020 vision?

2020 has been a long year. I will never say that people getting sick is anything to find benefits in, but I do think this year has taught me some important things. Value your family, whoever stuck close to you this year are your peeps. Cherish them and tell them. If someone wasn’t there you for you it is time to purge and be ok with the decision. Online shopping is amazing but with cuts in jobs and salaries I have learned most of us live in excess and have more than we will ever need. If you had to leave your home tomorrow what would you take in an…

    Navigating Grocery Store Etiquette

Long before Covid I joked there should be a coffee table book dedicated to the ins and outs etiquette of the grocery store. For most of us it ranks up there with a trip to the DMV. Now it appears (it only took a pandemic to make my ideas useful) we have directional arrows and circles at check out so we know how far to stay apart. It is like a giant chess game. I truly don’t mind rules, as a society we have proven we need them. We don’t know how to behave without them. I see others and I know I am not the only one who is…

I’m 50, It took me forever to get here and I won’t apologize.

Many days I see different social media. It is pretty easy to find in many posts regarding mom, fashion and beauty, fitness, mental health, food and creative/author bloggers. I have to wade through negative political posts to find the ones relevant to me, a woman over fifty. I am struck by the fact that there is no easy way to find all the information I am looking for in one place and what is relevant to me. Crazy if you search over 40 or 50 you find dating sites and weight loss at the top of the search engines. I know most of my friends are into far more than…

Find Peace and Joy in the Rainy Days

I woke up to a rainy morning today. It looks dreary but I got a cup of coffee and headed to the porch to enjoy the sounds. Everything is green, the birds are chirping and the dogs are happy at my feet. Mother Nature doesn’t seem to be bothered by it the way we may. Everything is bright and cheerful. Animals thrive and the plants thrive. Just like everything else in moderation rain is a good thing. Lately there have been “rainy” days in life. In the past 6 months too many to count. Yet if you choose to focus what is wrong you will never see what is right.…

You know you are a 80’s kid when…

Coming out of this pandemic I often wondered how we would’ve dealt with it back in the 80s. I believe many of our parents would’ve kicked us out the door and locked it so we could get fresh air. “Come back when the street lights are on!” Not that our parents were mean but they did the best they knew how to do as we do now. You know you are a 80s (even late 70s) kid if you were told to go drink from the hose if you came in for water. When you came in for a snack and they told you to get out and threw you…

Happiness in Momhood! Lesson from a dog!

Pictured is Cow. Photo credit to Jerako Millen truly an amazing photo! This world has us all upside down wondering if life will ever be normal again. Health risks and loss of incomes or even reductions of pay is enough to make all of us frustrated. Although many of us are content in our homes and safe. One thing that is always the same is our ability to be a great mom and find happiness. Whether you are a mom who gave birth, a mom of fur babies or specifically picked your babies by adoptions. We all get to have a great Mother’s Day knowing we have our kids in…

    All about asses after 50

Do you notice as you approach midlife, much of it revolves around asses? It could be your ass is too big, maybe it is flat (sometimes that is worse than too big). There could be times you have a big ass in your life personally or at work. The trick here is how do you deal with your asses in your life. You can exercise to make them smaller and more shapely. Some times that helps as well with the ones in your life by reducing stress. Either way, exercise can make all of them less prominent in our life. Gardening may help as well. All that squatting is bound…

Being kind and more accepting in midlife

One of the benefits of getting older is you can see through people. Yet, we also respect more women because, like ourselves, we know they have a past.  Before assuming a women’s story remember there could be a background. The woman who is in shape, you see as vain, but what she is doing is stress relief.  The heavy woman is lazy, yet she lost two babies in the past two years and is struggling to get back to life. The strong-willed woman must be heartless, yet she has to work every day to provide for her family, who she adores.  The woman who cowers is weak. Maybe at some…

Carl and Violet, rescue dogs that rescued me

So what sparked this idea to blog? I am by no means a writer. Just an average person with a mild sense of humor that finds the little things funny. I never set out to love the terrier breed. When my daughter was six, we went to a rescue event for her to pick a puppy. Trixie was a mix, but she looked like a pit bull. We got her as an eight-week puppy, so it was easy to adapt and train her. She didn’t have any history. She honestly was one of the best dogs we ever owned. Fast forward 15 years after we lost her. I decided the…

Social distancing, is it that different?

When I turned 50, I thought it would be fun be to share some of the comedic things midlife brings. Most of the time, you have to find humor in things to keep from losing your spirit. Since then, I have changed jobs and have been lucky enough to work full time from home. There have been drastic life changes. I will save that for another blog. Jenna is 21, and Eddie is 16. Almost an empty nester.  The coronavirus has us experiencing social distancing. I feel like it is something many of us may have already been practicing, being out of touch with the rest of the world. As…
